The Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders is the new flagship program of President Obama’s Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI). President Obama launched YALI in 2010 to support young African leaders as they spur growth and prosperity, strengthen democratic governance, and enhance peace and security across Africa.

 Lexus has released prices for its upcoming NX compact crossover, and they’re as ambitious as its styling is outspoken. Base MSRP is $35,405 for the NX200t with front-wheel drive; the equivalent AWD model starts at $36,805. The hybrid NX300h is priced from $40,645, while adding AWD takes it up to a cool $42,235. The standard engine is a 235-hp 2.0-liter twin-scroll turbo four-cylinder—the first turbo, ever, in a Lexus—while the hybrid employs a 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle four. A six-speed automatic transmission is standard with the turbo, while the 194-hp hybrid gets a continuously variable automatic with a “kickdown” feature for passing power.

The GT86 was always going to be a magnet for tuners and tweakers. And Toyota actively encourages it. Even before its launch, Toyota showed Japanese tuner companies the GT86 blueprints so they could get cracking on an ecosystem of bolt-ons. Most carmakers would like to hog the aftermarket to themselves, but Tetsuya Tada, the car's chief engineer, convinced his bosses it was in Toyota's interest to let outsiders in, because it would ramp up the general buzz and sell more cars. If the latest rumor on the matter is to be believed, tomorrow we'll be treated to the official announcement of both the HTC-made Nexus 9 tablet as well as the Nexus 6 phablet by Motorola. But don't expect a big event or anything like that - they'll apparently be introduced via a blog post by Google.

After teasing the Internet with a poorly-worded Twitter announcement earlier in the week, Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk this evening unveiled a new optional powertrain configuration for the entire line of the company's flagship Model S sedans: dual motors, powering all four wheels.

After making a few good-natured jokes about how he recently received a crash-course in the colloquial meaning of "the D," Musk kicked off the event by having a factory robot hoist an all-wheel drive Model S frame up from beneath the stage. USA Today jumped the gun with their announcement summary, and the report proved accurate. All-wheel drive will be an available option on all Model S trim levels and the new top-end P85D version will have a 0-60 time of 3.2 seconds. It will also feature a small increase in range, to 275 miles, over its rear-wheel drive predecessor.
