According to a breaking news report by Radio Continental, an explosion rocked the Federal Prison in Ado- Ekiti in Ekiti state this morning. The report says many inmates escaped, some were recaptured.
The daughter of former governor of Delta state James Ibori, Ms Erhiatake Ibori has won the PDP House of Assembly ticket for Ethiope West constituency. Michael Anyiam-Osigwe the older brother of AMAA (African Movie Academy Awards) founder Peace Anyiam-Osigwe and one of the sons of late Igbo billionaire Chief Anyiam Osigwe was shot by armed robbers on Saturday November 29th on the Ore-Benin expressway. He was reportely rescued alive from the scene of the robbery but later died in hospital.
Michael Anyiam-Osigwe was the Coordinator of the Anyiam-Osigwe Group and Secretary to the Supervisory Board. He had a first degree in Economics and then a Masters Degree in Social Anthropology and Ethnomusicology from Goldsmiths College, University of London.

Gunmen, suspected to be members of Boko Haram, stormed Damaturu in the early hours of today and began shooting and bombing the city. The attack, which was ongoing as at 7.30am today, has seen residents of the town scampering for safety.
According to reports, the mobile Police base which is in the outskirts of the town has been burnt down and many state institutions have also been raided by the rampaging gunmen who are now reportedly advancing to the main town of Damaturu.
They have also attacked some schools, including the Yobe State University located in Damaturu. The students have taken to the bushes for safety. There are also reports the militants are advancing to the government house with the aim of taking it over. More details later
