The hot potato game of who will play Steve Jobs in Sony’s biopic continues. Christian Bale was attached to the role until yesterday, and before that Leonardo DiCaprio’s name was in the mix.
Now it’s being reported that Michael Fassbender is considering filling the Apple co-founder’s shoes. Sony is “moving quickly” to find a replacement for Bale, and Fassbender has entered “early talks,” reportsVariety.
Like Bale, Fassbender is best known by the general public for his role as a major comic book character. He has played a young Magneto in Marvel’s X-Men: First Class and Days of Future Past. He has also starred in movies like Prometheus, 12 Years a Slave, Inglourious Basterds, and The Counselor.
David Fincher was rumored to be directing for a little while, but Slumdog Millionaire’s Danny Boyle is expected to direct now.
Aaron Sorkin wrote the script based on details from Walter Isaacson’s biography of Jobs, and the screenplay is divided into three acts surrounding different Apple events: the original Mac, NeXT, and iPod.
Seth Rogen is still supposed to be playing Steve Wozniak, but like everything else with this project, that’s clearly subject to change.
