Gary Cahill has backed Wayne Rooney to become England’s greatest ever player by taking the records for both scoring and appearances.
Rooney is in line to win his 100th cap against Slovenia on Saturday to move 25 behind Peter Shilton’s total, while the Manchester United striker needs seven goals to surpass Sir Bobby Charlton’s record of 49.
Cahill said: 'He’s fit, he looks after himself and trains really hard. I can’t see why he can’t break all the records to be honest.'
