While we’re all waiting for the international version of the Galaxy S5 LTE-A
to become official,
Samsung is busy preparing the launch of the Galaxy S5 4G+, a new variant of the company’s flagship with a Snapdragon 805 processor. The upgraded model will be launched in Singapore on August 23 and support carrier SingTel’s world first commercial 300Mbps 4G LTE-A service in the country. However, unlike the Galaxy S5 LTE-A for South Korea, the Galaxy S5 4G+ doesn’t differ from the standard Galaxy S5 in any aspect except for the faster chipset.
That means you’re looking at the same old Full HD 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display, though the lower resolution does mean that the Galaxy S5 4G+ will offer impressive performance over the standard and LTE-A Galaxy S5 models. Other specs are the same as well, including 2GB of RAM, a 16-megapixel rear camera, fingerprint and heart rate sensors, 16 GB of internal storage and a microSD slot, a 2,800 mAh battery, and Android 4.4 KitKat. The phone is dust- and water-resistant as well, and will retail at a price between SG$0 to SG$688.
Samsung will also launch the Galaxy Alpha 4G+ in Singapore, though details on what will change and how much it will cost are yet to be revealed.
