With countless unknowns becoming overnight celebrities on YouTube, it seemed almost guaranteed that one of Britain's most successful radio DJs could also see success on the forum.
But former Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles, 40, is learning the hard way that the millions who once enjoyed listening to his wild comical antics may not necessarily enjoy watching them.
After a quitting his hugely popular radio show in 2012 following eight years at the helm, the broadcaster was largely absent from the public eye until the launch of his YouTube offering on August 31.
New horizon: Chris Moyles, seen announcing his departure from Radio 1 in 2012, has struggled to pick up a large following on his new behind-the-scenes YouTube show, A Week In The Life Of Chris Moyles
And while it showed the star in a new light, giving viewers a behind-the-scenes look at his celebrity-connected life, fans now appear to be satiating their appetites for entertainment elsewhere.
His first video in the A Week In The Life Of Chris Moyles series attracted the most viewers, with numbers crossing the 30,000 mark.
But his most recent episode, released on Friday, has slowly crept its way over 10,000 - frightfully modest figures for the self-styled 'Saviour of Radio 1'.
BFF: The broadcaster has an array of celebrity friends, including Mel C, who made an appearance on his show
The premiere episode shows the star - looking considerably slimmer than in his radio-hosting heyday - explaining what his show will entail.
'What I thought I'd do is give you an insight into what I do is give you an insight into a typical week of my life,' he explains. 'So this is what this video is - this is me, Chris Moyles, a week in the life of... Chris Moyles.'
He then cuts to a shot of himself inside the Hollywood Hills home of Los Angeles-based British TV personality Ross King, who pretends to play the Hawaii 5-0 theme tune on his piano.
Pals: The premiere episode sees Chris make a stop backstage at Ed Sheeran's Los Angeles concert
Hitting the wrong notes? He also chats with LA-based British TV personality Ross King in the Hollywood Hills
Next on Chris' apparently glamorous schedule is a visit to Downtown Los Angeles' Staples Center where, after struggling to find his tickets, he gets to see Ed Sheeran in concert.
And the cheeky redhead even makes crude gestures behind Chris as they hang out backstage, clearly showing the good rapport the broadcaster has maintained with a number of stars.
The following week, he is shown backstage with Peter Andre and popular presenting duo Ant and Dec at their Takeaway On Tour, and subsequent episodes see the likes of Mel C and Jake Humphrey making appearances.
Still, while the viewing figures have been decidedly modest, the faithful fans who have been tuning in appear to be thrilled with what they're seeing.
'He's nine weeks in,' one wrote on Friday. 'Let's wait a year and see how it is then. I enjoy the vlogs. They're light hearted and funny, which is why I went through the trouble of listening to the Chris Moyles Breakfast Show, even though I live in Florida.'
